“Are you Listening?” Teaching Communication Skills Across Grade Levels

Speaking and listening are essential components to a student’s success in and out of the classroom. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that students already know how to have quality discussions or know the traits of an active listener.

The following strategies teach students what quality discussions look like and how to have “conversations” with the materials they use in class.
